Canterbury man charged with attempted arson following incident in Thanington

A 53-year-old man has been charged with attempted arson with intent to endanger life following an incident in Canterbury

Police was called to Cockering Road, Thanington, at 8.20am on Saturday, April 25, following a report that a man was threatening to set fire to a shed.

Officers attended and a suspect was later arrested.

James Gichigi, 53, of Cockering Road, was subsequently charged with attempted arson with intent to endanger life.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown on Friday, May 22.
