A number of schools across the district are closed today after heavy snow hit the county overnight.

Confirmed closures in our area so far are Chaucer Technology School, both the Simon Langton Boys' and Girls' Schools, and the Orchard School, all in Canterbury, and Barham Primary School.

Snow blanketed areas across the county, with some parts being hit by more than 20cm overnight. North and west Kent are the worst hit.

The A249 Detling Hill and the A229 Bluebell Hill were closed this morning.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Kent youngsters have received an early Christmas present today, with more than 250 schools across the county closed on what is the last day before the Christmas break!
