The road - used at rush-hour by commuters heading into Canterbury trying to avoid Wincheap - was closed off this morning.

Villagers reported seeing sewage bubbling over a water main and flowing down the road.

Southern Water is dealing with the incident, which is preventing Stagecoach serving three bus stops.

The bus operator warns the road closure could be in place for seven days.

Southern Water has been approached for comment.
