Kent cricketer Martin Saggers officially launched his benefit season with a lunch at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Hollingbourne, near Maidstone.

The 36-year-old former England seamer made his Kent debut in 1998 and has taken more than 400 First Class wickets. He played in three Tests for England, making his debut against Bangladesh in 2003.

The event was compered by Bob 'The Cat' Bevan and guest speaker was comedian Eddie Large.

Saggers is planning two other events this month, including a Quiz Night at Charlton Athletic Football Club on Sunday Feb 22 (6pm)and a Dinner and Sports Forum at the City Grange Hotel in London on Thursday February 26.

Guests will be Daley Thompson, Ray Wilkins and Devon Malcolm,and the evening will be hosted by Bevan.
