Pensioner loses fight for life

A man has been arrested in connection with a road crash in which an 81-year-old man died.

The pensioner, who has not been named, was on a mobility scooter in Watling Street, Dartford, when he collided with a black Ford Focus car at about 4pm on Tuesday, February 24.

He was taken to Romford Hospital, in Essex, but died from his injuries two days later, on Thursday, February 26.

Police arrested a 44-year-old man from Mottingham, in South East London, on suspicion of causing death whilst driving under a disqualified licence.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Kent Police’s serious crash investigation unit is investigating the cause of the collision, which occurred in Watling Street near the junction with Lingfield Avenue.
