James DeGale has promised local fans they are in for an explosive display when he steps into the ring at Bluewater on Saturday night.

The 2008 Olympic gold medallist believes an eye-catching display against American Dyah Davis could help line up a world title shot in 2014.

And the 27-year-old super middleweight, fighting at Glow for the third time, is determined to put on a show for the Kent public.

He said: “They can expect an explosive performance from me. I want to put out a statement that I should be boxing for a world title in my next couple of fights.

“I’ve done my apprenticeship as a professional boxer. I’ve done 12 rounds and I’ve been in hard fights, so now I want a world title shot.

“I want to make history as being the first British Olympic gold medallist to win a world title. There’s a good atmosphere (at Glow). I like it when it’s packed out, there’s a good vibe.”

DeGale has won his last six fights since losing to George Groves at the O2 in 2011. He beat Hadillah Mohoumadi at Glow just over a year ago and was back there in June, stopping Stjepan Bozic inside four rounds.

Davis, 32, has won 22 of his 26 professional fights and took WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika into a 10th round in June 2012.
