Three young anglers from Deal Minnows AC are celebrating call-ups to represent England at forthcoming competitions.

David Morris will be trying to land turbot, bream and mullet at the FIPS-M Junior World Shore Championships in Portugal from March 27 to April 2.

The 13-year-old - who will be competing in the under-16 class - will also be a reserve for the home international competition at Peterhead on the north east Scottish coast at which two of his Minnows team-mates will be competing.

Fellow Walmer Science College pupils Briony Langley and Rebecca Hurcombe, both 15, have been named in the England junior squad for the home international competition in July, which will be fished on sandy beaches with teams of under-16s looking to catch flounders.

Briony was a reserve last year but has gone one better this time and been named in the five-strong team for the event.
