A new Dover to Boulogne ferry service may start as early as February.
Operator LD Lines, which is starting up a Dover to Dieppe service next month, says it may use the facilities used by Speedferries before they went bust.
The Dover to Boulgne operator went under in the autumn.
LD Lines hopes to have two round trips a day by next month, and four a day by July.
