Bobbies on the buses in week of police action

DO you travel by bus?

If so, you could find yourself sitting next to one of North Kent’s neighbourhood police or community support officers next week.

Officers will be setting the wheels rolling on a week of action, starting on Monday, August 18, to meet, reassure and engage with members of the public.

Chief Inspector Phil Painter, who is in charge of Neighbourhood Policing in Dartford and Gravesham, said: “The buses go past the door of the new North Kent Police Station giving our neighbourhood officers a fantastic opportunity to regularly engage with members of the community by travelling with them.

“Having officers travelling on the buses at key times of the day has already helped to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour as well as offering reassurance to those travelling so an extension of the scheme can only be a good thing.”
