3 in dock charged with robbery bid

THREE men charged with attempted robbery at Lower Halstow post office near Sittingbourne have been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday.

They appeared before Sittingbourne magistrates on Wednesday after being arrested in Sheppey.

John Hughes, 19, of Bridge Road, Sheerness, is charged with attempted robbery and possessing an imitation firearm. Alexander Rudkin, 30, of South Street, Queenborough, and Christopher Maclean, 22, of Unity Street, Sheerness, are both charged with attempted robbery.

A Post Office spokesman said that no one was hurt and nothing was taken during the raid. The post office was closed after the incident and re-opened at lunch time on Tuesday.
