Concerns grow for missing man

A search involving police dogs, volunteers and a helicopter has so far failed to find a pensioner, missing for more than a week.

Amarjit Lehal, 69, who suffers from Alzheimers, went missing from his Chatham home on Tuesday, May 27.

It is thought he went for a walk and did not return.

Police spent the weekend scouring the Blue Bell Hill area following a report Mr Lehal had been spotted there.

Mr Lehal is around 5’10 tall, of slim build with short black, greying hair and a greying beard.

When he was last seen he was wearing a long-sleeved blue checked shirt, blue trousers, a navy jacket and grey trainers.

He has gone missing before and has previously been found in Strood, Rochester and Sittingbourne.

Sgt Tim Harris, from Kent Police, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who knows where Mr Lehal is.

"We are increasingly concerned for his welfare and are keen to reunite him with his family.

“I would like people to take a good look at Amarjit’s photo and contact the police if they can help us locate him.

If you have seen Mr Lehal or have any information please call Medway Police on 01634 792288.
