Firefighters tackle farm blaze

AROUND 40 tonnes of hay caught fire at a farm in Cranbrook, in the heart of the Weald, this afternoon.

The fire brigade was called to the farm in Freight Lane at around 1pm.

Pumps from Cranbrook and Tenterden attended the blaze and firefighters are keeping an eye on the area while the fire burns itself out.

Crews from Maidstone were put on standby to cover the rest of the area.
