Simeon Jackson came on as a late substitute on Tuesday night for Canada as they virtually sealed their passage into the Gold Cup quarter-finals.

Canada beat El Salvador 1-0 thanks to Ali Gerba’s 31st minute strike to send them top of group A in the qualifiers.

Jackson (pictured) collected his fourth senior international cap as he replaced match-winner Gerba with 15 minutes left.

With Canada now almost certain to qualify for the quarter-finals, Jackson will miss a large chunk of Gillingham’s pre-season schedule.

Canada’s final group game is on Friday against Costa Rica at the Florida International University Stadium in Miami.

The quarter-finals take place in Philadelphia on Saturday, July 18.
