Injured men cut free from crash wreckage

TWO young men were rescued from the wreckage of their car after it hit a tree in a Kent town.

The driver suffered multiple leg injuries and his passenger was also hurt in the crash outside Hornby Hobbies at Westwood, Margate, at 1am on Monday.

Fire crews from Thanet and Margate were involved in a tricky 45-minute operation and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the men by removing the roof of the Ford Fiesta.

They were taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in the town.
