Iwade: 23 tonnes of steel stolen from building site

THIEVES broke into a construction site and stole a trailer loaded with reinforced steel worth around £21,000.

The theft took place on the site on the A249 at Iwade, near Sittingbourne, at some time between Thursday, September 8 and Thursday, September 15.

DC Vince Straine-Francis said: "It is thought that the steel weighed about 23 tonnes so it would have taken a considerable effort to move it."
