ARMY bomb disposal experts were called in after a mystery package was sent to a man in Birchington.
The householder alerted police when he became worried at the contents of a cardboard box sent to him in the post on Saturday.
A police spokeswoman said: "The man was not expecting a package of this sort. He thought he could see a plasticine type substance inside and took the box into the garden for safety."
Police contacted bomb disposal experts who carried out a controlled explosion of package.
It is thought the package contained a hoax device.
