Road rage tragedy after driver is chased

A VICTIM of a road rage chase died after suffering a heart attack at the wheel of his car.

Malcolm Dyer, 67, of St David’s Road, Allhallows, near Rochester, was with his wife when another driver pursued them along the A2.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “During the incident the driver suffered a heart attack and subsequently died.”

The tragedy unfolded as the couple drove home in their Rover 45 from Meopham, near Gravesend. As they travelled along the A2, a Land Rover Discovery came from the slip road straight into their path, forcing Mr Dyer to take avoiding action.

The spokesman said: “It would appear that an angry exchange followed between the occupants of the vehicle and whenever the Rover came up behind the Land Rover, it braked sharply, again causing the driver of the Rover to take avoiding action.”

Police said Mr Dyer was able to later overtake the Land Rover and it then began to follow him and his wife.

Mr Dyer went around a roundabout twice to try to lose the other car but it stayed behind them.

Police said Mr Dyer suffered a heart attack at some point during this incident which happened at about 10.30pm last Tuesday. Kent Police are now appealing for any witnesses to call them on 01622 600970.
