Beckenham defeated Canterbury by 58 runs in the battle of the two promoted teams in the Shepherd Neame Premier Division on Saturday.

Solid innings from William McVicar (52), Chris Isles (46) and Johan Malcolm enabled Beckenham to make 177-9 after they had been put in at Polo Farm, and then Raza Ali Dar (4-22) and McVicar (3-29) did most of the damage as Canterbury were removed for 119.

Blackheath had to settle for a winning draw despite being on top for most of their game at Lordswood.

Craig Wood (105) and Faisal Shahid (82 not out) put on 120 for the fifth wicket as Blackheath set a target of 236-5 and they then reduced Lordswood to 54-6 in reply. But Matt Greenwood (57) and Amjad Khan (37 not out) came to together in a 94-run seventh-wicket stand to enable the home side to salvage a draw on 149-7.

Bickley Park squeezed home by one wicket in a low scoring game at Sevenoaks Vine. The home side were bowled out for just 104, but Bickley Park found batting equally difficult before clinching victory on 105-9.

Both Hartley Country Club and Bromley are yet to bowl a single delivery in the league after their match was abandoned without any play being possible, while Tunbridge Wells are also waiting to see any action after their game against Bexley at The Nevill was abandoned because of another waterlogged pitch.
