Welling United 1 - 0 Hayes

TEN man Welling snatched three points in a dramatic finale against Hayes at Park View Road on Saturday.

The Wings lost the influential Jamie Day to a controversial second yellow card for taking a quick free kick with more than half an hour remaining.

However, their spirit was not broken and another quick free kick, this time by Mark Saunders, set up Matt Carruthers to cross for Steve Perkins to head home the winner with three minutes left.

On loan Saunders proved the key man in the final half hour as he controlled the midfield in Day's absence and outlined his progress towards full fitness.

Hayes, who had the better of the first half, failed to seize their chances after Day's red card and were only able to test Wings keeper Jamie Turner from long range.
