Maidstone: Kent County Show traffic calming likely to cause delays on Detling Hill and A249

Traffic coming into Maidstone over the weekend is likely to get stuck in traffic due to the Kent County Show.

The show is taking place at the County Showground off Detling Hill on the A249 from Friday to Sunday (July 8-10).

During the entrance and exit times to the show, traffic calming measures will be put in place to help maintain a flow of traffic on the busy through route between the M2 junction 5 for Maidstone and the M20 junction 7 for Detling.

The show opens at 8am and closes at 6pm.

These measures will include the use of lane closures, temporary traffic lights, temporary speed limits, and crossover closures.

The traffic management will be in place from Friday to Sunday between 6am and 7.30pm.

Kent County Council (KCC) Highways have also announced that the permanent traffic lights at the M2 junction 5 Stockbury roundabout will be switched off during the exit phase of the show.

KCC has said that the 'exit phase' of the show runs from 12.30pm until 7.30pm.

Delays are expected along the A249 for the duration of the show and through traffic is advised to use an alternative route if possible.
