A man died when his Honda was in a collision with a Porsche on the A21

The accident happened at 7.50pm last night near the Bewl Water turn-off.

The 25-year-old victim, from Ticehurst in East Sussex, was travelling towards Flimwell; the Porsche was travelling in the opposite direction towards Lamberhurst.

A fire started in the Porsche shortly after the collision and two children had to be rescued from the car, but they sustained only minor injuries. Their mother was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury with more serious injuries, but is in a stable condition. The family are from Hastings. Firefighters were on the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the dead man.

The A21 was closed between 8.30pm and 3.30am this morning, while emergency crews worked at the scene.
