THE Maidstone-based Mote Ladies Under 13s side achieved a double triumph when both teams kept their unbeaten records and stayed on course for honours.

The first went through to the Lady Taverners' national cricket final after beating four south east rivals.

The eight-girl team from Maidstone turned in a convincing all-round performance at Bedford School.

The squad of Laura Bassant, Charlotte Bishop, Zoe Broster, Hannah Mowbray, Claudia O'Connell, Riti Patel, Emma Perry and Zoe Sturgess all made useful contributions.

Team manager John Bassant said he was delighted with their achievement and looked forward to the national final in Birmingham on August 13.

The other team was in action at the same time, playing in the Kent SeaFrance League at Sir Roger Manwood School, Sandwich against teams from Sibton Park and Medway.

They won both matches and retained the league's top spot. Manager Mark Baldwin was impressed by the standard and the great spirit in which the games were played.

The squad at Sandwich comprised Alice Baldwin, Gemma Greenwood, Scarlett Woodman, Himaya Patel, Rachael Joynson, Maddie Cannon, Leah Brown and Kirsten Hawkins.
