Heybridge v Maidstone

Maidstone will be without new striker Mesach Nugent for their opening Ryman League Premier Division game at Heybridge Swifts on Saturday.

The target man - who arrived from Division 1 South side Dulwich Hamlet - has a groin injury which will likely see him miss the curtain-raiser and Tuesday's first home game against Canvey Island.

Joint-manager Alan Walker said: "It’s not a chronic problem but I believe we’ll have to wait for the home game against Harlow the following weekend before we see him in action."

Supporters going to Heybridge will see a new-look squad following urgent summer surgery after last term’s near-miss with relegation.

Ian Cox, Roland Edge, James Pinnock, Jay Saunders, Kevin Watson, Lloyd Blackman, Nugent and goalkeeper Andy Walker have ridden in on a wave of experience and former Stones Andy Martin and Elliot Bradbrook have returned to bolster the 18-man squad.
