Woman in court accused of stabbing her partner at their Gillingham home

A woman accused of stabbing her partner has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Wendy Wallbanks, of Kingswood Road, Gillingham, is alleged to have attacked Matthew Benton at their home.

The 41-year-old was granted bail at Maidstone Crown Court ahead of a hearing on February 25, when she is expected to enter a plea.

Benton, 42, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital where he was treated for his wounds, which were described as non-life threatening.

It was just days before Benton was due to stand trial on on charges of racially-aggravated common assault and harassment.

A judge adjourned the hearing until February 7.
