Rotary is teaming up with the KM Charity Team to host the fundraising event in Rochester on Easter Monday (April 22).

Children will be given eggs to decorate, and then tasked with taking mobile phone photos of them at 10 different locations marked on a special route map of the town.

At the end of the trail, which starts and ends by the river Medway at The Esplanade, they will be presented with a chocolate egg and a certificate.

The event runs from 10am to 1pm, and costs £5 per child - with the money raised going to fund the KM Charity Team’s child reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club.

Families are being urged to book tickets now.

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “Come along for some quality family fun at The Esplanade in Rochester on Easter Monday.

“You’ll be able to enjoy some traditional bank holiday fun in the historic riverside town, there’ll be free chocolate eggs for the children taking part, and the money raised will be used to help boost literacy levels at local schools.”

Book a place for your child by emailing Strood Rotary’s Hazel Sheehan at hazel_sheehan@hotmail.com.

Buster’s Book Club encourages children to read more at home. Participating schools’ classes compete internally for weekly trophies, and winners of monthly inter-school challenges are rewarded with tickets to leisure attractions or visits by celebrity storytellers.

Besides Rotary, Buster’s Book Club is supported by the Ernest Cook Trust, Little Cheyne Court, the Kent Community Foundation, Golding Vision, Orbit, Specsavers, Leeds Castle, Diggerland, Hornby, Wildwood, Acorns Read and Grow, the Crown Foundation, The Education People and Kent, Medway and Bexley councils.
