A RADIO-controlled lifeboat is the top prize in a competition being organised by volunteers at Dover Lifeboat Station in the run-up to Christmas.

The model, made and donated by Wonderland Models from Edinburgh, was sent to the Kent Messenger Group for publicity purposes, and was then passed on to Dover Lifeboat so they can use it for fund-raising.

It is the big attraction for the lifeboat station’s Christmas raffle which will be drawn next month.

The model is of an RNLI Severn, an all-weather lifeboat, and is a full-function radio-controlled replica of the Volunteer Spirit.

Just over 50 centimetres long, and costing almost £50, it is likely to make someone very happy this Christmas.

Tickets are on sale at the lifeboat station, when it is open, and at events which RNLI volunteers attend.
