Donations pour in to help bring Matthew Green back home to Sittingbourne

More than £3,000 has been raised to help the family of Matthew Green bring him home.

The 32-year-old former roofer was reunited with parents Pauline and Jim last week having been missing from his home in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, since April 2010.

He was sensationally found in Spain where mental health workers were treating him at a psychiatric unit.

Now it is hoped Matthew will be able to return to the UK and Suzanne Gardiner, a friend of the family, has set up an appeal to help cover the costs.

She said: "It's going to be a long road ahead and a very costly one to get Matthew back home with his family where he belongs and due to his medical condition.

"He is going to need a specialised nurse to accompany him into this country which we all know will not come cheap."

The Bring Matthew Green Home fundraising page was set up on Friday and has already generated more than £3,600.
