Nick Davis departs role as Sittingbourne boss for third time after winless run which stretches to October

Nick Davis has left his role as Sittingbourne boss for the third time amid a dreadful run of form.

Davis succeeded Darren Blackburn at Woodstock in the summer from Isthmian South East rivals VCD, signing former professional players Jason Banton and Alex Addai, but Davis lasted less than eight months this time around.

The Brickies, beaten on Monday 3-0 away to second-bottom Corinthian, have slipped to third-bottom, having not won since a 3-1 victory on October 11 at Cray Valley.

A brief club statement on Wednesday read: “Sittingbourne Football Club can today announce that first-team coach Nick Davis has left his role at the club through mutual consent.

"The board have the upmost respect for Nick and wish him the very best in any future roles. [They] would like to put their thanks on record for his time and commitment to the club this season.

"A further announcement will be made on any interim or permanent replacement, as soon as we are in a position to do so."

The news comes after striker Mario Quiassaca is said to have recently quit after being "threatened" by "racist behaviour" following their 4-1 Swale derby defeat on December 27 to Sheppey.

Former defender Davis was joint-manager alongside Matt Wyatt from September 2013 to July 2014.

He then spent more than three years in sole charge from October 2014 to January 2018 before he stood down.

Sittingbourne still sit four points ahead of Corinthian despite their loss to them and nine points clear of basement boys Faversham.

They did hold National League South Welling United in November to a 2-2 draw in the Kent Senior Cup, only to lose on penalties 5-4.

This Saturday, they host Whitehawk.
