Chris Valdus (58.38, unattached) from Faversham and Robert Carpenter (59.59) of Ashford & District Road Runners were the only finishers in a field of 300 to duck under the hour mark in the 26th Thanet Coastal 10-mile road race on Sunday morning.

Will Withecombe (61.05) of Beckenham Running Club took the final podium place and the masters winners were Tim Sutton (M40, 63.00) and Tom O’Connell (M55, 68.47) of the hosts, Thanet Road Runners.

Tina Oldershaw (63.01) returned to her 2007 UK Masters W40 championship distance to easily take the women’s race from fellow W40 Jenni Van Deelan (68.09) of Canterbury Harriers and W35 Liz Weeks (69.11) of Sittingbourne Striders.

Vicky Talbot-Rosner (W45, 70.52) of Invicta East Kent and Tina Jones (W60, 83.49) of Canterbury Harriers were the leading upper age group athletes.
